Weddings

Congratulations on your engagement and thank you for considering one of our Horley Anglican churches for your marriage ceremony!

The CofE's weddings website also has a 'walk through the wedding service' and all sorts of other advice about music, readings, legal requirements and guide to whether you are eligible to get married in the parish.

We hold Marriage Preparation sessions leading up to your big day and the Clergy will advise you on aspects of your service and confirm that you can be married in our Parish. Please contact the Parish Office for more information.

But the first thing to do is to check whether you are eligible to get married in the parish by going to the Church of England weddings website. A quick guide is printed below.

You can marry in a Church of England church if you can show that one of you:

  • has at any time lived in the parish for a period of at least 6 months was baptised (christened) in the parish concerned or

  • was prepared for confirmation in the parish or

  • has at any time regularly gone to normal church services in the parish church for a period of at least 6 months

OR

That one of your parents, at any time after you were born:

  • has lived in the parish for a period of at least 6 months or

  • has regularly gone to normal church services in the parish church for a period of at least 6 months

OR

That one of your parents or grandparents:

  • was married in the parish"

We look forward to hearing from you soon!
