Rev’d Naomi with Helen, Lulya and Lucy
St Francis’ Church 15th July 2018
Jim spoke from the pulpit on the Sunday following the devastating news about the Grenfell Tower Fire in June 2017. He gave a personal, heartfelt and very moving account. The congregation gained a deeper understanding of the plight of people affected. Jim’s daughter Lucy has two schools in the area and she and Jim’s granddaughter Maddy were directly affected, looking for missing people, caring and supporting families and traumatised school children. Two of the missing people were their friends Helen and Lulya who had their home on Floor 21. They were eventually found; Lulya remaining in hospital for three weeks.
St Francis’ congregation has supported families with prayer and in other ways. So it was a delight when Helen and Lulya chose St Francis’ 60th anniversary weekend to attend our church service, to pray and share together. It was wonderful to meet them. We are truly blessed to have them among us. May they continue to heal and grow.
