Church families and friiends enjoyed an early evening BBQ in the sunshine, with delicious food, fun, and games for the children. We raised much needed funds for "Away from it All" breaks for families in need locally, and for "Literacy Circles" in Africa.
During the evening Penny announced that Horley was the first Parish in the Diocese to complete the Mothers' Union "Rise Up" Bronze award in raising awareness of domestic abuse, one of the Mothers' Unions key campaigns. Having been presented with the certificate by the Diocesan President, Comfort, at the Diocesan Mary Sumner Day Service in Purley, Penny was delighted to share with the gathering at our own parish BBQ celebrations. Each church has a certificate and we now look forward to completing the Silver award.
